Sam is a former software developer turned broke bicycle mechanic who still participates in software development on occasion. He is the maintainer of the Mellium XMPP implementation in Go, and contributes regularly to standards bodies such as the XSF and IETF. He believes that open source is necessary but not sufficient, and is an advocate for anti-capitalist, co-operative software and applying the co-op principals to software development to create a more welcoming and diverse software community.
