Shurui Zhou is an Assistant Professor in the ECE Department at the University of Toronto. She obtained her Ph.D. in May 2020 in the Institute for Software Research, School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research focuses on the engineering of trustworthy human-AI systems, with expertise in software engineering, human-centered AI, and empirical research methods. She studies how AI-enabled software is designed, developed, and evaluated to better align with stakeholder values throughout the software lifecycle. She conducts interdisciplinary empirical studies with developers and end users and brings perspectives from scientific software, healthcare AI, and open-source ecosystems to support the development of responsible and user-centered AI systems. She also investigates the collaboration challenges for hardware teams, specifically for CAD designers using online collaborative platforms.
