Daniel Shown is the Program Director of the Open Source with SLU program. He oversees daily operations, industry partnerships, client relationships, and the contributors, developers, and technical leads participating in the program. His focus is advancing the program's mission of research support, open-source advocacy, and meaningful software development experience for students. Recently, he founded Arpeggio AWARE, a research collaborative investigating socio-technical systems at the intersection of software development, systems science, distributed systems engineering, cloud-native resilience, and learning in self-improving systems. He has over 20 years of professional experience in software development, operations, and infrastructure. Alongside this work, he has maintained a parallel career as a new media artist and painter.
